A clean fireplace operates more efficiently, produces less smoke, smells better, and looks better. Whether you have a traditional masonry wood-burning fireplace, a factory-built gas unit, or a decorative electric insert, regular cleaning removes soot, ash, creosote, and debris that reduce performance and create safety hazards. Eco Grizzly provides full fireplace cleaning services that go beyond surface dusting to restore your fireplace to peak condition.

Wood-Burning Fireplace Cleaning

We remove ash and debris from the firebox, brush soot from the firebrick walls, clean the smoke shelf and damper, and sweep the flue from the firebox to the chimney top. Creosote buildup is rated on a three-stage scale: Stage 1 (dusty soot) is removed with standard brushes; Stage 2 (flaky or tar-like deposits) requires more aggressive brushing; Stage 3 (glazed creosote) requires chemical treatment followed by mechanical removal. We report the creosote stage and recommend a cleaning interval based on your usage.

Gas Fireplace Cleaning

Gas fireplaces produce less soot than wood-burning units but still accumulate dust, pet hair, cobwebs, and carbon deposits on burners, logs, and glass panels. We remove and clean the gas log set, vacuum the burner tray, wipe down the glass with non-abrasive cleaner, inspect the pilot assembly and thermocouple, and verify gas connections for leaks.

Benefits of Regular Cleaning

Reduced smoke and odor. Lower risk of chimney fire from creosote buildup. Better combustion efficiency. Longer life for firebrick, dampers, and gas components. A more attractive fireplace for entertaining and daily enjoyment.

Fireplace Cleaning FAQs

Common questions answered by our certified technicians.

Wood-burning fireplaces should be cleaned after every cord of wood burned or at least once per year. Gas fireplaces benefit from annual cleaning and inspection. Electric fireplaces need occasional dusting and glass cleaning.
You can remove ash and wipe down glass between professional cleanings. However, creosote removal, flue cleaning, and gas component servicing should be performed by a certified technician for safety.
Creosote is a tar-like substance that forms when wood smoke condenses inside the flue. It is highly flammable and the leading cause of chimney fires. Stage 3 (glazed) creosote is particularly hazardous and requires professional removal with specialized tools.
Residential fireplace and chimney cleaning typically ranges from $149 to $299, depending on the type of fireplace, level of buildup, and whether additional services like a damper inspection are included. We provide an exact quote before starting.
No. We use drop cloths, a HEPA-rated vacuum, and a sealed containment system at the firebox opening to prevent soot, ash, and debris from entering your living space.
