We rebuilt the surface in new cement board, taped and prepped every seam, and set full height scaffolding so the plasterers could work the column from floor to vaulted ceiling in one continuous pass. The finish is a hand troweled Venetian plaster in a soft off white, wrapped around a see through gas firebox that opens to the seating area on both sides.
